New in the HEDELIUS showroom: the automated 5-axle ACURA 65 EL machining centre

Automated 5-axle ACURA 65 EL machining centre

The highlight of this year’s anniversary open house was the automated 5-axle ACURA 65 EL machining centre. The abbreviation EL stands for “external loading”, referring to the machine’s provision for loading pallets or workpieces into the workspace from the left machine side.

The ACURA EL offers side loading of pallets or direct loading of workpieces. Sample application shows a 400 x 400 mm pallet

The ACURA EL has a pneumatically activated stainless steel loading door with an opening height of 900 mm and a rotary transfer integrated into the machine bench, including pneumatic connection for operating zero-point clamping systems or power clamps. Preconfigured standard interfaces are available for electrical connection to an automation component, e.g. EROWA, INDUMATIK or industrial robots. The ACURA EL is designed in such a way that users can select the optimal market solution for their automation tasks and can simply connect to the machine. For optimal automation design, HEDELIUS provides the automation company with the machine’s 3D data in order to check the accessibility of the automation in the workspace on interfering contours.

The advantage of the ACURA EL concept is that side loading into the workspace is fully maintained for set-up and control tasks, as well as for tasks such as single-item production during day shifts. The machine even offers unrestricted crane loading. Another advantage (dependent on the selected automation) is the ability to see into the workspace, thus ensuring optimised process monitoring when setting up the automation component.

The side-based design of the automation allows unimpeded access to the workspace for set-up and monitoring tasks.

At its showroom in Meppen, HEDELIUS demonstrates the automation possibilities of an ACURA 65 EL using the example of a 12-fold INDUMATiK Light 120 pallet automation with pallet dimensions of 400 x 400 mm and a clamping weight of 100 kg.

Many other solutions have already been tested in conjunction with various automation partners.  The options range from pallet loading to the direct loading of workpieces and the mixed loading of workpieces and pallets in an automation solution. As such, firms including INDUMATIK, EROWA and others automation manufacturers have already developed automation proposals for the ACURA EL. The first projects have already been delivered, while others are currently in the implementation phase.

Get in touch with the HEDELIUS Sales Team at any time to arrange your own demonstration date. We look forward to seeing you.

Countless other automation options are already available from partner companies, such as the example here from EROWA AG (Switzerland)
