The most compact machining centre of its kind:

HEDELIUS launches the ACURA 50

HEDELIUS has already set standards in the field of 5-axis machining centres with rotary tables with its ACURA 65 and ACURA 85. Now it is following this success with the ACURA 50 model, which boasts an impressive compact design yet remarkably large travelling distances, making it an unparalleled new product.

Built for high-precision machining

Built for high-precision machining

Despite its compact dimensions, the ACURA 50 is in no way inferior to the two larger models in the ACURA range. The special HEDELIUS design enables high-precision machining, as the distance between the main spindle and the guides for the Y- and Z-axes remains constant over the entire travel range. In addition, the Z-axis is clad to protect it against heat radiation and drafts, thus significantly reducing the level of heat. The cast iron feed slides are solidly ribbed to absorb and minimise vibrations. The hydraulically clamped rotary swivel table also assists with precise machining by ensuring maximum stability.
Space issues are a thing of the past

Space issues are a thing of the past

This means that nothing now stands in the way of superb machining for small workpieces. It is also possible to set up somewhat larger machining operations, as the rotary swivel table has dimensions of 500 x 430 mm and can bear weights of up to 300 kg. The machine’s travelling distances are also designed to suit such set-ups: the ACURA 50 accommodates 500 mm on the X-axis and Y and Z travelling distances of a good 550 mm, all with a footprint of just 2088 mm x 2616 mm, or approx. 5.5 m² . Thanks to its very low overall height and depth, the new machining centre will fit into almost any production plant.
Holds up to 235 tools

Holds up to 235 tools

Despite its size, the ACURA 50 comes with a 55-compartment tool magazine as standard, which can be expanded with a standby magazine to hold another 180 more tools. The standby magazine is also very compact, covering just 1.8 m². Different spindles are available with speeds of 14,000, 18,000 and 24,000 min-1, up to 35 kW power and with a torque of 183 Nm. Customers can choose between two different sets of controls, the Sinumerik 840D SL from Siemens or the TNC 640 from Heidenhain, with a 21- or 19-inch touchscreen, complete keyboard and rapid traverse potentiometer.
Meticulously designed with users and maintenance staff in mind

Meticulously designed with users and maintenance staff in mind

The ACURA 50 was designed according to the tried and tested ACURA range concept. This means that the machining centre puts the focus on the user. At a height of 800 mm, the machining table is perfectly designed and simplified for the user, as is the large machine door, which provides access to the working area and the workpiece. The vertical stainless steel slats ensure optimised chip fall, while the chip conveyor can be pulled out to the front on rollers. One particularly impressive feature of the design is the integration of relevant components such as hydraulics, pneumatics, centralised lubrication, control cabinet and cooling units into the machine casing. The ACURA 50 can thus be placed in the perfect position within the machine hall.
The major advantage

The major advantage

Another highlight is the fact that the machine is accessible from the left-hand side for maintenance. The milling machine can thus be automated from the right-hand side in the EL version, unlike the other two ACURA machine types (65 and 85), which are automated from the left-hand side. The major advantage of this is that two machining centres, one on the left and one on the right, can be equipped with a single automation solution, making production even more efficient.
